Ultrasonography (USG) is one of the most widely used methods of visual diagnosis, as it allows for the rapid acquisition of necessary information about a patient’s health status. USG can be performed on soft tissues, internal organs, and joints. Images obtained using high-frequency waves—ultrasound—allow for the assessment of the structure of soft tissues and various organs; when examining muscles and ligaments, the method helps determine the causes of pain.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless, and safe method for patients, and it can be safely used by pregnant women and children as well. In most cases, no special preparation is required before the exam.
At the Latvian Microsurgery Center, great emphasis is placed on joint examinations, and ultrasound is also essential before and after various cosmetic surgeries, such as breast surgery.
