Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast reconstruction allows women to get rid of the unpleasant effects of sagging breasts (mastoptosis). Mastoptosis can be caused by pregnancy and breastfeeding, rapid and significant weight loss, an initial imbalance between large breasts and weak musculo-ligamentous structures, or age-related changes. At the same time, the skin of the breasts stretches and loses its elasticity and firmness. This leads to the flattening and sagging of the mammary glands.
Sagging, drooping breasts not only cause psychological distress for a woman but also result in some physical discomfort. That is why it is so important to restore their former fullness and attractiveness. Breasts can be lifted through a common plastic surgery procedure called mastopexy, or a breast lift.
The surgery allows the breasts to be reshaped as desired by redistributing their “natural” soft tissue: excess skin is removed and the nipples are repositioned higher. The type of surgical procedure required is selected based on the degree of ptosis and the condition of the soft tissue.
