Breast Reconstruction After Cancer Surgery

Breast reconstruction is the restoration of the breast’s appearance and shape. These procedures are primarily performed on patients following breast cancer surgery, when the breast has been partially or completely removed. Breast reconstruction can be performed at the same time as cancer surgery, which helps avoid a period during which the woman must live without a breast. Reconstruction can also be performed after the completion of cancer treatment.

Reconstructive surgeries at the Latvian Microsurgery Center are performed using the patient’s own tissue, implants, or breast expanders, as well as various combinations of these methods. Each method has its own indications and contraindications, which the doctor will evaluate during the consultation and, based on that assessment, will recommend the most appropriate method.
