A film about the 40-year history of the Latvian Microsurgery Center

This year, the Latvian Microsurgery Center (LMC) is celebrating its 40th anniversary. A video has been produced in which LMC doctors and medical staff talk about how each of them came to the center and chose their field of specialization.

Microsurgical techniques began to be developed in Latvia in 1985, when a small department was established at the “Gaiļezers” Hospital. Microsurgery experienced rapid development, and an increasing number of doctors mastered this new medical technique. In 2001, the legal relationship between the hospital and the department’s doctors changed. Some of the doctors founded a private medical facility—the “Latvian Center for Plastic, Reconstructive, and Microsurgery.” The LMC celebrated its 40th anniversary with a grand event—the opening of a new specialized hospital located at 332 Brīvības gatve in Riga.

Here, patients receive consultations, and a wide range of reconstructive, hand, cosmetic, and oncological surgeries are performed. The new hospital provides consultations, diagnostics, surgeries, postoperative care, and rehabilitation. This is a great benefit for both Latvian and international patients.
